Authorities: Fayetteville apartment fire was accidental

Fire crews responded Tuesday morning to a fire at the Chason Ridge Apartment Complex in Fayetteville, authorities said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A fire that damaged a building at the Chason Ridge apartment complex in Fayetteville on Tuesday morning was accidental, authorities said.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which started on the balcony of Apartment A in building 5836, according to the Fayetteville Fire Department.

Emergency officials responded to the complex, which is behind the Target on Skibo Road, at about 9 a.m. Heavy fire and smoke were showing from the two-story structure when firefighters arrived.

Fire officials said the exact cause that sparked the blaze remains under investigation. It was unclear how many residents were displaced.
