Man killed in Durham head-on wreck

A 35-year-old Durham man died and two people were injured in a head-on collision on Old Oxford Road Saturday night, state troopers said.

DURHAM, N.C. — A 35-year-old Durham man died and two people were injured in a head-on collision on Old Oxford Road Saturday night, state troopers said.

Roger McMillian was going north near Riverside Drive around 5:30 p.m. when he moved into the the southbound lane to try to pass another vehicle, troopers said. He saw an oncoming vehicle in the southbound lane, swerved into the northbound lane, overcorrected and ended back up in the southbound lane. He hit the oncoming vehicle  head-on.

McMillian died of his injuries. The driver and passenger in the other car suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Duke Hospital. Their names haven't been released.

The wreck happened in no-passing zone, troopers said.
