Arrest made in shooting death of Durham 18-year-old

A man was found dead inside a car in a Durham neighborhood early Monday morning, police say.

DURHAM, N.C. — An 18-year-old Durham man was charged with murder in the April 5 shooting death of a fellow 18-year-old.

The shooting happened on Kirby Street, near Chowan Avenue around 7 a.m.

When police arrived, they found Joshua Garner, of Durham, inside a silver car with its doors and windows smashed. Garner died at the scene.

Jonathan Earl Shaw, 18, was arrested in the 4300 block of South Alston Avenue by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force on Friday morning.

Shaw remained at Durham County Jail under no bond.
