Posted — UpdatedSMITHFIELD, N.C. — Johnston County on Friday became the latest county in the state to move paperwork necessary to secure a handgun purchase or concealed carry permit online.
The qualifications for gun permits have not changed, but the online forms can give applicants a head start on the process.
Those seeking a permit can download the forms and fill them out before presenting them to officials during office hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:45 p.m.
Online applicants can pay the fee for their permit(s) with a credit or debit card. Cash and check payments are still accepted.
