Apex police are investigating two thefts where Freon was taken from home air-conditioning units and used for huffing.

APEX, N.C. — Apex police are investigating two thefts where Freon was taken from home air-conditioning units and used for huffing.

Police said the thefts happened Sunday at 2010 and 2005 Jerimouth Drive. In both cases, witnesses said, someone released Freon into bags before leaving.

Police said the suspected thieves were inhaling the Freon to get high, which is known as huffing. One person was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

The names of the suspected thieves were not released.

Charges have not been filed.
