Apex police getting tips on park assault suspect

Apex police have received dozens of calls since releasing a sketch of a man accused of sexually assaulting and exposing himself to women at Apex Community Park.

APEX, N.C. — Apex police have received dozens of calls since releasing a sketch of a man accused of sexually assaulting and exposing himself to women at Apex Community Park.

Police said Thursday that they are following up on every tip, and that many callers report noticing a person jogging in jeans, which they found odd.

A woman told police that a man groped her on a walking trail at the park Tuesday afternoon. Another woman reported that a man exposed himself to her and then ran away, officers said.

The suspect is a white man in his mid- to late 20s, stands 5 feet 11 inches tall with a slim build, has reddish-brown hair.
