Another section of Fayetteville loop highway opens

The stretch of Interstate 295 between Bragg Boulevard and the All-American Freeway has been under construction for more than a year, officials said. In August, the DOT opened the section between Bragg Boulevard and Ramsey Street, providing a direct connection from Fort Bragg to Interstate 95 and allowing the Army to close Bragg Boulevard to through-traffic.

The 39-mile loop highway is expected to be completed by 2025. A section between All American Freeway and Cliffdale Road is already under construction and set to open in October 2018. The DOT this summer awarded an $85.2 million contract for the 3.1-mile portion from Cliffdale Road to Raeford Road. Construction on the section from Raeford Road to Camden Road is expected to start in 2018 and in 2020 for the final leg, from Camden Road back to I-95 near St. Pauls in Robeson County.
