Albertson couple killed in head-on collision in Dunn
A couple from Albertson was killed Friday evening when a car and an ambulance collided head-on on N.C. Highway 55 and Green Path Road in Dunn, according to the state Highway Patrol.
Posted — UpdatedA red Chevrolet pickup truck was passing in a no-passing zone and collided with the ambulance, troopers said.
The ambulance was returning to its station in Newton Grove when the crash happened.
The driver of the Chevy, Johnny Clay Burnette, 37, died on the way to the hospital, troopers said. His wife, Donna Lynn Burnette, 47, was a passenger in the truck. She died shortly after the wreck, troopers said.
The ambulance driver and passenger were treated and released from Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital.
