WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — A Seymour Johnson Air Force Base airman was charged Wednesday in the death of his young son, whose body was found Tuesday along a road in Columbus County.

Senior Airman Matthew Theurer was charged with murder, voluntary manslaughter and negligent homicide, according to a spokeswoman with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. He was held in the Sampson County jail before he was transferred by Air Force personnel.
