CARY, N.C. — The Town of Cary has closed Stone Creek Greenway after reports that a fox attacked two people Monday.

The town was working to capture the fox on Tuesday, according to a news release. Anyone who sees the animal is asked to call Cary Animal Control at 919-319-4517.

Cary offered these tips for residents' safety:

  • Never approach any wild animal.
  • Seek help immediately for any person or pet who has been bitten by an animal.
  • Use caution when dealing with any pet that may have come in contact with a potentially rabid animal. Wear gloves and other protective clothing when helping an injured pet and stay away from any bodily fluids, especially saliva.
  • Have all cats and dogs vaccinated against the rabies virus.
