After warm Thursday, a return to normal behind cold front
Central and eastern North Carolina residents will see temperatures return to November normals in the coming days after a warm first half of the work week.

"You may want to get lunch and eat outside today, because it is going to be gorgeous and quite warm," WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said. "Highs will be in the low 80s by mid-afternoon, which, as we all know, is rare for this time of year."
After a warm, sunny Thursday, a cold front will push through North Carolina, bringing with it a small chance of rain showers during the overnight hours.
Not everyone will see showers, but those that do will likely get them between midnight and the Friday morning commute, Gardner said.
Behind the front, November-like air will settle into the state for the next several days.
After highs in the 80s on Thursday, daytime temperatures will top out in the 60s Friday and through the weekend into next week.
"We're still going to be enjoying plenty of sunshine, but you'll notice big changes with the temperatures," Gardner said.
Overnight lows will feel more like fall, too, bottoming out in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees over the next several days.
Election Day weather should be good across the area, with high temperatures in the mid-to upper-60s with plenty of sunshine in the forecast.
