Additional felony charges filed in I-440 crash that injured DOT workers
Additional felony charges have been filed against a woman who authorities say was responsible for hitting two highway workers on Interstate 440 last month.
Posted — UpdatedAngela Renee Roland, 44, was initially charged under the state's "move over" law after she hit Darrick Bridges, 44, and Kelly Lewis, 44, as they worked on I-440 at the Capital Boulevard exit on April 19.
On Tuesday, Roland was also charged with driving while impaired and two counts of felony serious injury by vehicle.
In arrest warrants, authorities said Bridges had to have both legs amputated as a result of the incident. Lewis has serious arm damage.
Police said Bridges was pinned between Roland's car and a parked work truck and Lewis was hit by the car and thrown over the guardrail.
As a result of the new charges, Roland's bond was increased to $50,000.
According to court documents, Roland has been involved in five previous collisions and has been cited for speeding one time.
