Holiday celebrations highlight weekend best bets
The Boylan Heights ArtWalk and the Garner Christmas parade highlight our weekend fun in the Triangle.

Here is a look at some of the fun events happening in and around the Triangle this weekend:
Neomonde 1 year celebration
Local Lebanese restaurant Neomonde is celebrating its one year anniversary at its north Raleigh location on Strickland Road. The party starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday and will include live Christmas and middle eastern music, Henna tattoos, face painting, Arabic cooking demonstrations and wine sampling.
Garner Christmas
Garner will celebrate the holiday season this weekend with its annual tree lighting on Friday night on Main Street followed by Saturday’s Christmas parade. This year’s grand marshals hail from the 916th Air Refueling Wing of the Air Force Reserve at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
Scandinavian Christmas Fair
Homemade Scandinavian food, live music and authentic folk dancing highlight this year’s Scandinavian Christmas Fair on Saturday at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $7 and children under 13 years old are admitted free.
Celtic Christmas
Tir na Nog is hosting its annual Celtic Christmas event Sunday from 4 to 9:30 p.m. Enjoy live music and Irish dancing, while you shop for special holiday gifts at celtic vendors and enjoy an Irish Christmas dinner. Admission is free but people are encouraged to bring new “non-violent” unwrapped toys for local charities or make a donation by purchasing the “Kids Need Christmas” CD.
Boylan Heights ArtWalk
More than 100 artists will display and sell their work on porches, lawns, in houses and artists’ studios throughout Boylan Heights on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The 20th Annual Boylan Heights ArtWalk features pottery, jewelry, prints, oils, watercolors, pastels, photography, home accessories and more.
And one more event a little outside the Triangle...
Island of Lights
It might be chilly, but that doesn’t mean the beach isn’t the place to be this weekend. The Island of Lights Holiday Flotilla is Friday and Saturday at Carolina Beach. The parade is Friday night and the flotilla will light up the Intercoastal Waterway Saturday starting at 6 p.m. All events are free.
