ZEBULON, N.C. — A judge has dismissed a defamation lawsuit filed by a former headmaster of a Zebulon charter school against the school and two female school employees, said a lawyer for the women Friday night.

The women filed sexual battery complaints against Brandon Smith, who was headmaster at East Wake Academy for more than a decade. Smith denies their claims and alleges they and two members of the school's Board of Directors, conspired against him. He sued them for defamation, civil conspiracy and emotional distress.

He was placed on a leave of absence from his job in August. He has not been charged with a crime.

Denise Cline, attorney for the women, said Friday that their claims of Smith's inappropriate touching and language still stand.
