PITTSBORO, N.C. — While they have not been able to positively identify a body found Wednesday morning near Pittsboro, investigators with the Chatham County Sheriff's Office noted similarities between the body and a woman reported missing from Siler City.

Daphne Forster, 38, was white with long, dark hair and multiple tattoos. The body found along Chicken Bridge Road in northern Chatham County shares those features, according to the sheriff's office.

Forster's family last saw her Tuesday night in Pittsboro. She was driving a blue 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier with North Carolina license plate number WVY6036.

Investigators emphasized that they have not been able to conclusively link Forster and the body, and they asked the public for help in finding her or the car.

An autopsy failed to determine the exact cause of death for the woman found along Chicken Bridge Road, but investigators are treating it as a homicide.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Forster, her car or the body is asked to call Detective Will Summers of the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office at 919 542-2911.
