Celebrations in the clear, but rainy weather will start new year
Revelers will celebrate in dry, decently cool weather Monday evening, but after the clock strikes midnight, a rainy new year will roll in.
Posted — Updated"Good news for folks headed out to celebrate New Year's Eve: The weather should be fine," WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said. "It's going to be dry. Temperatures aren't going to be that bad. They'll be in the 40s."
"People aren’t going to have to worry about the umbrellas today," said WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss.
The rain won't hold off for long, though.
"By (Tuesday) morning, there may be a stray sprinkle or two there. We’ll have the front coming in during the day tomorrow, a better chance of rain and some rain showers forming with that," Moss said.
Tuesday will see a high around 47 degrees, and the daily highs will stay in the 40s until Saturday, when they creep back up to around a seasonable 50 degrees.
