<b>ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.</b> — A 73-year-old woman died Tuesday evening after she was hit by a car in Rocky Mount.

Police said Wednesday that a 2006 Buick Lacrosse traveling east on Sunset Avenue hit Annie Dillard shortly before 8:30 p.m. as she was crossing the road in the 3500 block of Sunset Avenue.

Authorities did not release the driver's name or say whether charges would be filed in the wreck.
