71-year-old Kinston man shot in head

Police are investigating a Sunday night shooting that left a 71-year-old Kinston man critically wounded.

KINSTON, N.C. — Police are investigating a Sunday night shooting that left a 71-year-old Kinston man critically wounded.

Officers responded to 611 Girl Scout Road at about 11:10 p.m. and found Jack Davis Jr. with an apparent gunshot wound to his head, police said.

Davis was taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital and later to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police are investigating the shooting as an attempted murder and asked that anyone with information about it call Kinston Public Safety at 252-939-3160, the tip line at 252-939-4020 or Lenoir County Crime Stoppers at 252-523-4444.
