6 firefighters struck by lightning

Firefighters mopping up a forest fire in Caldwell County on Saturday were struck by lightning, WBTV, a CBS affiliate in Charlotte, reports.

LENOIR, N.C. — Firefighters mopping up a forest fire in Caldwell County on Saturday were struck by lightning, WBTV, a CBS affiliate in Charlotte, reports.

The six firefighters were members of the North Carolina Forest Service and a Bridge Crew, made up of non-violent offenders. They were mopping up off of Buffalo Cove Road when a storm hit causing lightning.

Patients were transported to Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

No information was available about the patients or their conditions.
