RALEIGH, N.C. — 34 books to spark inclusive conversations

First I want to share that in writing this I questioned myself— am I jumping on a bandwagon? What is my real intent of releasing this blog and book list?

As I reflected it became clear that this was definitely prompted by current events but not jumping on a bandwagon. The Nurtured Nest’s mission is to provide families with credible, up to date information from experts and that is exactly the intent of this post. The Nurtured Nest is always committed to helping families get good information that will help them make the best decisions for their family. By releasing this list of books we feel like we are giving families good resources that will assist in their journey to make the best decision for their family.

We are so thankful to have friends like Jordan Bradley of giant.oaks.grow to curate a list of literacy resources for parents to start the conversation of race and to diversify their current library. We acknowledge that simply having books with POC (Person Of Color) or BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) in your home will not magically transform your life. We do believe that adults and children alike have a lot to learn and having access to the suggested books will give parents a tool to kick off a conversation which will hopefully lead to more.

In addition to the book list that Jordan has put together she also sent us several Instagram accounts to follow to keep inclusivity in the forefront of our daily lives.
