CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — A Camp Lejeune-based Marine died in Iraq last Sunday in what officials call a "non-hostile" incident on the same day as another Marine, the military announced Friday.

Sgt. Marquis R. Porter, 28, of Brighton, Mass., died Jan. 11 after a non-hostile incident in Anbar province, the Pentagon said Friday. Military officials did not provide more details about the circumstances of Porter's death but said it was under investigation.

Porter was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.

On Tuesday, the Marine Corps said 23-year-old Lance Cpl. Daniel R. Bennett of Clifton, Va., also assigned to Camp Lejeune, also died Jan. 11, also as a result of a non-hostile incident, but in Helmand province.

Bennett was with the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
