2 arrested in Rocky Mount retail theft operation

The Rocky Mount Police Department said on Friday it has made arrests related to an organized retail theft operation.

The Rocky Mount Police Department said on Friday it has made arrests related to an organized retail theft operation.

31-year-old Yakisha Sims and 36-year-old Elquentin Harrison were arrested in connection to a theft of over $25,000 worth of jewelry from Milan Gold, located in the Golden East Shopping Mall.

Investigators were able to locate the stolen jewelry at a local pawnshop where they were able to narrow down Sims and Harrison as suspects.

Harrison and Sims were arrested after officers were able to obtained a search warrant for their hotel room on North Wesleyan Boulevard and found additional evidence linking them to the Felony Larceny from Milan Gold.

Investigators said they also linked both suspects to another theft that occurred on April 5th at New York Gold and Diamonds located in the Golden East Shopping Mall.

Harrison was charged with three counts of Possession of Stolen Property, Three counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretense, Felony Larceny, Habitual Larceny and Organized Retail Theft

Sims was charged with two counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretense and two counts of Possession of Stolen Property.

Elquentin Harrison received a $60,000 secured bond, and Yamika Sims received a $10,000 secured bond.
