18-year-old found shot to death in car on Raleigh street

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are investigating after a man was found dead inside a car Sunday afternoon.

Police said officers responded to a welfare call concerning an unresponsive man inside a car on Edwin Drive at about 1:45 p.m.

Investigators determined that the man, identified as Brandon Khalil Sandy, 18, had died as the result of an apparent gunshot wound.

The death is being investigated as a homicide, police said.

In January, Sandy was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury after a shooting on Hensley Drive in Raleigh.
