AUTRYVILLE, N.C. — A 14-year-old girl died early Saturday in a single-car wreck on High House Road in Sampson County, authorities said.

The Highway Patrol said Ashley Leigh Nunnery was driving at a high speed and without a seat belt when she lost control, swerved, hit a ditch and flipped the car.

In an published obituary, Ashley is listed as the daughter of Troy and Cheri Nunnery of Mount Carmel Church Road in Autryville and a student at Lakewood High School.

Troopers said Ashley had been living on Carry Bridge Road with her grandparents, Virginia and Kenneth Nunnery. The car she was driving was registered to Kenneth Nunnery.
