FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Twelve students and two adults were injured Monday morning when a school bus and a dump truck collided, authorities said.

The dump truck failed to yield as it turned from the U.S. Highway 301 service road onto Snow Hill Road at about 7:50 a.m., authorities said. The school bus was hit on the right side and rolled onto its left side.

Thirteen middle school and high school students were on the bus at the time, and EMS took 12 to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. There was no word on their conditions, although most were believed to have suffered minor injuries, the state Highway Patrol said.

All but one of the students had been released from the hospital by 8:30 p.m., authorities said.

The drivers were also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The Highway Patrol was investigating the collision, and charges were pending, authorities said.
