11-year-old killed in ATV wreck in Fayetteville
An 11-year-old Hope Mills boy who died Sunday after being injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.
Posted — UpdatedAyed Alsaiti was riding an ATV when the driver lost control and crashed at 6501 Lake Barbour Road in Fayetteville, said Debbie Tanna, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.
Tanna said the driver was also a child, but she did not know how old he or she was.
Alsaiti, who was at the home visiting friends, was not wearing a helmet, Tanna said.
He died around 7:30 p.m. at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
The death is the second in as many months in the Cape Fear region in which a child has died in an ATV wreck.
MacKinley Waters, 13, of Dunn, died Sept. 16 when he was thrown from an ATV in Sampson County. The case remains under investigation.
