1 confirmed dead in Raleigh apartment fire

One person was rescued from a burning apartment and taken to a local hospital early Wednesday, Raleigh fire officials said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — One person died Wednesday morning in a Raleigh apartment fire, according to police.

Fire broke out at an apartment on Tapers Drive shortly after 5 a.m. It's unclear what caused the fire.

Fire officials said the fire was under control in less than 20 minutes.

An unidentified person was pulled out of the building but was later pronounced dead.

Police said the cause of the fire was not suspicious.

No other information about the injured person has been released, but officials said no other units were impacted.
