1 Dead in Harnett Accident

The accident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on Bill Shaw Road in Spring Lake, authorities said.

Troopers said Steven Maggard's pickup truck crossed the center line and hit another truck. Maggard's truck later went into a ditch before striking a tree, investigators said.

Authorities said Maggard died at the scene. They also said the driver of the other pickup truck, who has not yet been identified, will not face charges.
