93-year-old man bitten by fox: 'I don't blame the animal'

Harry Goodman thought the small animal was just passing through, but he said the relationship changed quickly.

"He comes up here and comes on my porch after me," Goodman said. "I wasn't out in my yard, I was up here, sitting still...minding my own business."

Goodman said the grey fox bit through his shoe and into his foot.

"Something looked good about that shoe, I guess," he said.

While the cut on his foot is small, the treatment is extensive.

Goodman said he had to have two shots in his hips, and one in his arm to prevent possible rabies.

On Monday, a construction worker killed an aggressive fox in the 300 block of Westridge Drive, that then tested positive for rabies.

"The two locations are about a half-mile apart. It is not possible to determine if the fox killed on Monday is the same one involved in the Sunday incident," Raleigh police said

"I don't blame the animal," Goodman said. "He was doing what he thought was right. You know, we are invading their territory. This was animal territory."
