$6K reward offered in violent Henderson robbery

A reward of up to $6,000 has been offered for tips that help solve the robbery and assault of a 51-year-old woman outside a Henderson store last week.

HENDERSON, N.C. — A reward of up to $6,000 has been offered for tips that help solve the robbery and assault of a 51-year-old woman outside a Henderson store last week.

Police Lt. Christopher Ball said that Debra Smiley, of South Hill, Va., was attacked and robbed as she left the J.C. Penny's department store on North Cooper Drive around 8:25 p.m. on Sept. 22. Smiley suffered multiple injuries, including broken bones, but is recovering.

An anonymous donor on Tuesday offered to match a $3,000 Crime Stoppers rewards for tips, bringing the total reward to $6,000.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 252-492-1925 or Henderson police at 252-438-4141. All callers may remain anonymous.
